CONTACT DOMINANCE LEVEL 2
The Ultimate in Stable Defensive Controls
September 8-12, 2025
Parma Heights, OH
$1250
There are no prerequisites for this class, but having had CD-1 prior will greatly amplify your takeaway.
If You Could Learn 7 Defensive Threads That Would Shut Down 80% of All Street Assaults, What Would That Be Worth To You and Your Officers?
If Subject Control (CD-1) is about proactive measures, then CD-2 is about Defensive Controls.
Yes, we all prefer to be in control at all times, to be the one to initiate.
The simple truth is that not every physical encounter will be under your control. Sometimes the Subject initiates first and you must have pre-trained ways to respond.
That is where this course comes into play. Through innovative eye-opening drills we will program you to respond in a reflexive manner, a manner that shuts down the aggressors attack and allows you the opening for a reversal of dominance.
So, What is CD-2 ?
STALL YOUR SUBJECTS OUT, DRAIN THEM OF ENERGY, RESOLVE THE SITUATION
The CD-2 curriculum teaches students how to force a Subjects attack to Clutch and Stall Out, quickly draining them of energy so you can return to your standard Subject Control Flows and resolve the situation.
It uses proven defensive positioning and postures which are easy to learn.
Standing-Unattached, Standing-Attached, and Grounded-Attached will all be addressed.
These few positions and postures are woven into 7 Unique Looping Threads which quickly become intuitive and are fun to practice, just as you've experienced in every Talon Instructor Course.
Every technique and thread connects seamlessly to all of the drills you've mastered in CD-1. More importantly, this material will work for ALL of your officers, not just the talented 10%.
The Talon CD Philosophy
ANTI-COMPLEXITY IN A COMPLEX WORLD
PHILOSOPHY
The Talon Global philosophy is to avoid any attempt to replicate Martial Art as an in-service training model. That is an exercise in folly and we strongly recommend against it.
As in all of our Instructor Courses, there are only two outcomes which drive our training:
- To deliver to you (as an instructor), material which is purposefully anti-complex. Meaning, the more pressure you place on it, the more stronger it becomes.
- Ultimately, for your officers to receive training in which they understand why they are learning what you are teaching them, and can then appreciate the simple practicality of it all.
The Talon CD Ethos
TRAINING MUST SERVE ALL OF YOUR OFFICERS, NOT JUST THE TALENTED 10%
Never confuse Subject Control with Martial Arts, they are two entirely different things.
Martial Arts as an in-service protocol will never serve your officers.
Martial arts (yes, including Jits) might entertain those few at your department who already train and can perform in the top 10%. But they can never serve those officers who genuinely need your help, no matter how good your intentions are.
All Arts are far too complex for 8-16 hours of training a year. They were never designed to be boiled down and repurposed. That idea is nothing more than a bait-and-switch from creative vendors and it always has been.
If you want to be excellent at something then go and study it 3 days a week for 5 years. But leave it and its complexity out of the LE training room. It doesn't belong.
ETHOS:
If all Truth is Self Evident, then our Ethos is Based on Common Sense:
- The Simplest is always best
- A few simple moves that you believe in are more valuable on the street than an entire library that you are hesitant about
- Drill what you believe in until you can pass the FMX Standard (see CD-1, it's easy to understand)
- Only then should you move on
The Talon CD Solution
CONTEXT-BASED TRAINING
PREPARE FOR THE ACTUAL CONDITIONS YOU EXPECT TO MEET
SOLUTION:
All Talon training courses, skills, and drills are built from the ground up to serve police officers...ALL police officers. They are comprised of simple, useable, and achievable skills that require very little training.
They take into consideration that which matters to most cops; the legal, and conditional aspects that officers generally meet during a struggle. In other words, all of the factors that most martial arts are simply unable or not invested enough to take into consideration.
How Is CD-2 Structured?
Every Contact Dominance Instructor Certification has 3 Elements To It:
- The Macro-Concept (that supports the Development of a Serviceable Internal SC/DT Program)
- The Primary Skill Set Foundation
- The Critical Threat Integration
CD-2 is Structured as follows:
- Contrasted from CD-1, which introduced the idea of Serviceability as Standard, CD-2's Macro Concept is about Developing an Energized Internal Training Culture. A Culture in which officers are positive about and inspired by Simple, Context-Based Training.
- CD-2's Primary Skill Set Foundation is all about developing your officer's Defensive Capabilities; to Frustrate and Stall Out the Subjects Attacks.
- The Critical Threat Integration of CD-2 is Transitioning To Firearms in Ultra-Compressed Scenarios.
How the week will look:
The Macro Concept is delivered Monday-Thursday during the morning lectures, roughly 8a-9a.
The Primary Skill Set Foundation is taught Monday and Tuesday.
The Critical Threat Integration is built and drilled on Wednesday and Thursday.
The training block of Friday morning is where everything comes together into one, unified application . It is drilled as a Baptism of Fire to make sure it is locked into your middle brain so you don't have to think about it when you need it.
This final block usually takes us to lunch time on Friday, which is when training for the week is completed.
